City Coronavirus Response

Good Afternoon.

I wanted to update people on the City's response to COVID-19 (Coronavirus). We are monitoring things daily and are in close contact with state and county public health professionals.

First, there are no confirmed cases in Coos County yet.  However, it is only a matter of time.  Second, the most important thing we can do is "social distancing."  This slows the spread of the disease and helps prevent our health care system from becoming overwhelmed.

Here is a summary of what the City is doing:

1. All regular advisory committee meetings are canceled. Utilities Commission, Parks and Recreation Commission, and Library Board.

2., The Bandon Public Library will be closing to the public and implementing new procedures to protect our patrons and community. We are introducing curbside checkouts, which will be available on Tuesdays-Thursdays from 10am-7pm, and on Fridays and Saturdays from 10am-5pm. To use this service, call us at 541-347-3221. There will also be a 3-day quarantine delay on items returned before they can be checked out again. Wi-Fi, Library2Go, and remote eLibrary access services remain unaffected. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

3. There is a payment drop box in the parking lot at City Hall. PLEASE drop your payments there or mail them. Any shutoff notices sent this month are suspended for the time being.

4. City Hall is partially closed.  You can call 541-347-2437 to make an appointment if you are setting up utility service, or 541-347-9722 to make an appointment with the planning department.

5. The Barn and Sprague Theater are closed until further notice.

We will be posting regular updates to the City Facebook page.  You may also check the following website:

This situation is likely to continue to evolve for months, so look out for each other and take care of yourselves.

Sincerely,

Dan Chandler
