ADUs

Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) are attached or detached residential structures that are accessory to a single-family dwelling. The City allows these units in any residential zone, a maximum of one per lot, and with certain size limitations (900 square feet or 60% of the primary dwelling's floor area, whichever is smaller).

Vacation Rental Dwellings

Vacation Rental Dwellings (VRDs) are conditional uses in the CD-1, CD-2, CD-3 and C-3 Zones. In order to apply for a VRD permit, you must ensure that less than 30% of the single-family detached dwellings within 250 feet of the subject property (and located in a zone where VRDs are allowed) are VRDs. This is referred to as your "saturation rate."

Out of City Utility Service

Per Bandon Municipal Code Chapter 13.10, the City is authorized to allow water and sewer connections to properties located outside of city limits where either a pre-existing agreement exists, or where the subject property can be directly connected to an existing main line by way of a lateral (without a main line extension). 

As of October 4th, 2021, the moratorium on all out of city water service agreements has been lifted. Please find the Council item and meeting minutes below for your reference.

Hazard Overlay Zone/Geologic Assessment Review

The City of Bandon adopted a Hazard Overlay Zone in 2020, requiring that properties with known high or very high likelihood of liquefaction or landslide, or properties located along the oceanfront, gain approval through a Type II process for Geologic Assessment Review. This review allows the applicant to select a geo-professional of their choosing to prepare a report that meets the criteria of the Bandon Municipal Code. If the proposed development is minimal or located outside of the hazard area, a waiver to this requirement may be appropriate.

RVs

The code listed below contains information about the times in which a person can occupy a Recreational Vehicle (RV) inside city limits and how that vehicle must be parked when stored on-site. Occupancy of an RV is limited to: (1)  a licensed RV park, (2) temporary occupancy during construction, a residential visit, or for property maintenance, and (3) for a medical emergency. Most of these require a permit from the City of Bandon - see below. 

RVs may not be conntected to city water or sewer and may not have removed wheels or be blocked up.
