New Playground Equipment

Climber

The City of Bandon is excited to be purchasing new playground equipment that will be installed in City Park this fall! After the beloved boat and climbing dome had to be removed for safety reasons, there has been a vacant space just waiting for a new opportunity. The City's Parks & Recreation Commission requested funding through the Oregon Parks & Recreation Department for a nature play area and new climbing equipment and was fortunate to be selected as a recipent. The City's Urban Renewal agency provided the match for the grant and will cover the cost of installation.

Where is the playground equipment coming from?

Each year, the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department administers the Local Government Grant Program, which is a voter approved, State lottery funded program. The Parks & Recreation Commission recognized a need for new playground equipment after the climbing dome had to be removed for safety and the boat had to be removed due to vandalism. We applied for a small grant to replace those items and add nature play.

Is the surfacing material being replaced?

The City does not have the required budget at this time to repalce the surfacing material. The rubber mulch will remain until funding is identified for a suitable replacement, or it reaches the end of its useful life.

How is this project being paid for?

The total project cost is $61,427.27. The funding for this project comes from a grant in the amount of $28,790, Urban Renewal Match in the amount of $7,198, and some State revenue sharing funds.
