Hazard Overlay Zone/Geologic Assessment Review

The City of Bandon adopted a Hazard Overlay Zone in 2020, requiring that properties with known high or very high likelihood of liquefaction or landslide, or properties located along the oceanfront, gain approval through a Type II process for Geologic Assessment Review. This review allows the applicant to select a geo-professional of their choosing to prepare a report that meets the criteria of the Bandon Municipal Code. If the proposed development is minimal or located outside of the hazard area, a waiver to this requirement may be appropriate. The documents required for Geologic Assessment Review can be found below. If you have questions about whether or not your property is subject to this requirement, or if you have questions about the ordinance itself, please contact staff by emailing or by calling 541-347-7922.
